Following your steps, I changed the file name, including on the 32-bits folder, but nothing worked. My installation pack is 9r8 and the '-fixed' wasn't there initially.
However, I tried the trick and didn't work. Any suggestions would be highly appreciated.
Another strange thing is that I personally have this problem with Cubase 32bit and not with the 64bit version, Wavelab or other VST hosts. The strange thing is that I used Cubase and Waves plugins for months without particular problems everything happened out of the blue. I think that it depends on the kind of daw. It works but sometime it's necessary to repeat the operation (twice/ three times for day) and it's really boring.
